TOURISM PRICE INDEX FOURTH QUARTER 2005
Introduction
The Tourism Price Index (TPI) for the third quarter of 2005 stood at an
index level of 160.22 up 3.69 percentage points from the 154.52 index
which was recorded in June 2005. A year earlier (September 2004), the index stood at
148.93.
Quarterly Comparison
The quarterly comparison of the Tourism Price Index subgroups recorded
increases in Accommodation subgroup which went up by 5.17 percentage
points, Food and Beverage subgroup which went up by 2.01
percentage points, Clothing and Jewelry subgroup increased by 0.29
percentage points ,and Transportation subgroup which increased by 6.55 percentage
points. The subgroup which recorded a decrease was - Miscellaneous
which fell by 1.28 percentage points. The subgroup which remained
unchanged were Package Travel and Recreation and Sporting Activities
Annual
An annual comparison recorded significant changes in all subgroups. The
subgroups which had increases were, Food and Beverage which increased by
8.34 percentage points, Clothing & Jewelry increased by 0.93
percentage points, Transportation went up by 23.28 percentage points, Miscellaneous by
6.96 percentage points, Recreation and Sporting Activities by 2.83
percentage points and Accommodation by 9.34. The Package
Travel subgroups decline by 3.70 percentage points.
Rate of inflation
The rates of the TPI inflation registered a quarterly rate of
3.69
percent and an annual rate of 7.58 percent .
