EXPECTED OUTCOMES FOR THE EDUCATION REVIEW


We realize that education is one of the most critical components in the one development of human resources. We are aware that human resources is one of the most important element of our national development in the era of globalization, and to ensure that our economy becomes a full services one in financial and tourist services. Further, human resources will play a key role in our effort to enter electronic commerce with a view to developing it is a major sector in our economy. It is human resources development that will assist us in attaining and maintaining global competitiveness. Education and training must then be a high priority on our national development agenda.

We expect education, as determined and designed from this Education Review, to have the following impact on our community:

1.  A better educated and well-rounded student in the next decade;
2.  Students who are better academically prepared for tertiary education;
3.  A community with better than conversational multi-lingual skills
4.  Better value for money spent on education.
5.  Better prepared student body for the workforce.
6.  School system graduates better educated in science and technology.
7.  School graduates with better knowledge of our history, culture and economic way of life.
8.  A student body which is ranked in academic qualifications that are world class.
9.  School graduates will be better equipped with life coping skills allowing them to better fit into society.
10. School graduates to have a better understanding of the world of globalization.
11. Better trained and prepared workforce.
12. More literate workforce in Information Technology.
13. A world-class level of tertiary education in the BVI.
14. A world-class workforce for tourism and financial services.

We further expect education and training workers to enjoy a better perception among British Virgin Islanders. The Review is expected to lay the foundation for bringing regional respectability to the education system in the BVI.
