WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW
For the last two
weeks and up to the middle of December is the collection of relevant data and interviews.
During this phase the following persons or groups have been or will be interviewed:
1. Public Officials
2. Principals, Teachers & Students
3. A representative PTA Group
4. BVI Teachers' Union
5. Cable and Wireless
6. Education Advisory Committee
7. H. Lavity Stoutt Community College
8. BVI National Youth Council
9. Representatives from the Opposition
I0. Electricity Cooperation
11. Labour Department
12. Financial Services
13. Association of Registered Agents
14. Tourist Board
15. Fishermen's and Farmer's Associations
16. Rotary Club
Many school visits are taking
place, too.
As the Christmas season approaches,
we'll take a break and resume further dialogues with more individuals and groups.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Education and Culture would like the public to become actively
'involved" in this education review. We are, therefore inviting everyone to support
us, to cooperate with the review team and lastly we would welcome written submissions from
individuals or groups by December 31, 1999 as it will not be possible to reach everyone.
Our outreach programme also
includes two (2) public meetings as follows:
(1) On Friday, 3rd December, 1999 the first meeting will be held on Virgin Gorda at the Ashford Waters
Community Centre at 7:00 p.m.
(2) The second
meeting will be held at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall on Tuesday, 7th December, 1999 at
7:30 p.m.
I encourage everyone to attend
these meetings and to express your views. We hope to provide other opportunities for more
persons to do so in the new year.
