We are a customer-service department responsible for providing:
- Managing the development and flow of National Statistics
- Policy Advice
- Statistical and economics information
- Statistical and economics analysis
- Project cycle management services
- National development planning services
- Manpower planning services
- Public Sector Investment Programming
- Provide quality, accurate and timely information to policy makers to guide the planning process
- Collaborate with other government agencies and the private sector alike to gather data thereby allowing us to maintain quality, accuracy and timeliness in the delivery of our services
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive and accurate economics and statistics database from which requests can readily be addressed

We are available to clients at local, regional and international levels. Our clients include persons from the private sector, governments, institutions, non-governmental organizations, corporations, multilateral organizations and bilateral organizations.

We can be readily contacted by telephone between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. We can also be reached by fax, e-mail, voicemail and letter. Our website www.dpu.org can be accessed to address certain requests.

All information or data received is kept in the strictest of confidence in accordance with current laws, international conventions and the ethical standards of statistics and economics research organizations. No private or identifiable information or data is shared with any department or official of any Government.

If I use the services of the DPU, what standards can I expect?
We will treat you fairly, respectfully, and professionally. We will:
- Answer your telephone call within 5 rings. Greet you politely, identify ourselves, and offer assistance
- Return your telephone call within 1 working day
- Answer all correspondence within 10 working days
- Advise you of the time required to provide the service requested, and if necessary obtain your agreement to the schedule
- Notify you if additional time is required to provide the service and explain the reason for the delay
- Provide a cost estimate, if any, for most services within 3 working days
- Generally, reply to special requests within 5 working days. (For example, if you requested a 10- year data series on government investment in tertiary education)
- Fulfill request that do not require research within 2 working days
- Refer you to the appropriate agency or department if we are unable to fulfill your request

How can I Complain if Something Goes Wrong?
We do not expect to disappoint you in the delivery of our services; however, if something goes wrong and you would like to complain, please do not hesitate to contact the Director of Planning. You can expect a reply within seven (7) working days. If you are not pleased with the response received write to the Financial Secretary at the Ministry of Finance. If you are still not satisfied write to the Deputy Governor or the Governor and you will receive a full response within 30 days.
